Stephen Waarts attracted worldwide attention in 2015 when he won the audience vote at the Queen Elisabeth Competition. He went on to be awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2017 and the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern soloist prize following his debut there. In 2019, Waarts was awarded the International Classical Music Awards Orchestra Award by the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra.
Waarts’ international career has seen performances with the Kansas City Symphony, Tampere Philharmonic and more recently the Frankfurt Radio Symphony. Upcoming highlights include his Wigmore Hall recital debut on 17 September 2019, as well as debuts with Staatskapelle Weimar, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Deutsche Streicherphilharmonie. Further recital and chamber concerts include Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw and Carnegie Hall in New York.
