The ever-exhilarating Finnish violinist Pekka Kuusisto has been described by critics as a performer ‘who surely has the most personal sound of any classical violinist now alive’ (The Daily Telegraph). He is Artistic Director of the ACO Collective, Artistic Best Friend of the Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and Artistic Partner with The Saint Paul and Mahler Chamber Orchestras. In September 2019, Kuusisto took up the position of Featured Artist for the Scottish Chamber Orchestra’s 2019/20 season.
Further highlights of Kuusisto’s 2019/20 season include concerto performances with the NDR Elbphilharmonie, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and Swedish Radio and Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestras. He will also return to direct the Tapiola Sinfonietta, the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra and the Swedish Chamber Orchestra.
The multi-faceted nature of Kuusisto’s career is evident in his involvement, together with Samuli Kosminen, in writing the music for Tove Jansson’s ‘Moomin stories’, the most well-known and biggest animation series ever made based on Finnish literature.
