Russian Pianist Pavel Kolesnikov has received worldwide critical acclaim for his performances and recordings. Significant recital and festival appearances include Berlin Konzerthaus, the Louvre, Vancouver Recital Society and the BBC Proms, while orchestral appearances include National Philharmonic of Russia, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra and Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
Kolesnikov’s 2019/20 season sees concerto dates with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, RTE National Symphony Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra as well as performing recitals at Wigmore Hall in London, Musiekgebouw in Amsterdam and Salle Gaveau in Paris. Kolesnikov’s latest recording for Hyperion which features Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata was released in August 2018. His previous recording of keyboard works by Couperin won critical acclaim and a Diapason D’Or Award in April 2018.
Based in London, Kolesnikov studied at Moscow State Conservatory with Sergey Dorensky, at London’s Royal College of Music with Norma Fisher and at Brussels’ Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel with Maria João Pires. A BBC New Generation Artists for 2014-16, Kolesnikov was also awarded the RCM Benjamin Britten Piano Fellow for 2015-2016, studying on the Artist Diploma course.
