Symphony Orchestra of India

The Symphony Orchestra of India (SOI) is India’s first and only professional orchestra. Founded 10 years ago, and resident at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Mumbai, the orchestra is led by Associate Music Director Zane Dalal and Resident Conductor Evgeny Bushkov.

The orchestra has worked with artists from all over the world including conductors such as Martyn Brabbins, Augustin Dumay, Rafael Payare and Carlo Rizzi, and soloists including Angel Blue, Barry Douglas, Alina Ibragimova, Maria João Pires and Cédric Tiberghien.

During the past few years the SOI has toured outside of India, performing in Moscow, Muscat, Abu Dhabi, and most recently in January 2016 came to Europe for the first to time perform three sold-out concerts across Switzerland.

The SOI’s inaugural UK tour is set for February 2019 comprising two dates at London’s Cadogan Hall and performances at Symphony Hall Birmingham, St David’s Hall Cardiff, G Live in Guildford and Edinburgh’s Usher Hall. These concerts will feature virtuoso tabla player Zakir Hussain and violinist Marat Bisengaliev while the conducting duties will be shared by Zane Dalal and Martyn Brabbins.
