Stephen Waarts

Stephen Waarts attracted worldwide attention in 2015 when he won the audience vote at the Queen Elizabeth Competition. He went on to be awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2017 and the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern soloist prize following his debut there.

Waarts’ international career has seen performances with the Kansas City Symphony, Tampere Philharmonic and more recently the Frankfurt Radio Symphony. Upcoming highlights include chamber music performances with Tabea Zimmermann and with Andras Schiff, as well as performances with the Munich Symphony, Marlboro Festival and Mostly Mozart Festival, New York. Waarts’ debut album with Gabriele Carcano of music by Schumann and Bartok was released in November 2018 on Rubicon Classics.

Stephen Waarts will be performing at Wigmore Hall in September 2019.
