The Oslo Philharmonic can trace its roots to the era of Edvard Grieg and Johan Svendsen, and became an institution in 1919.

The orchestra, together with their Chief Conductor Vasily Petrenko regularly tour internationally and since 2015, has enjoyed a creative partnership with LAWO Classics – a critically acclaimed Norwegian independent record label. Their latest recording on the label is out in September 2018 – the last instalment in their Scriabin series.

In October 2018 the Oslo Philharmonic announced that Klaus Mäkelä will be their new Chief Conductor from season 2020-21.

In Autumn 2019 the Oslo Philharmonic will celebrate their centenary with an eight-concert European tour.
