Jonathon Heyward

One of classical music’s most exciting young talents, Jonathon Heyward, is set to become Chief Conductor of the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie in January 2021.

Grand Prix winner of the 2015 Besançon International Competition at the age of 23, Heyward was recipient of the Dudamel Conducting Fellowship with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra in 2018. In 2019, he completes his three-year tenure as Assistant Conductor of the Hallé.

Heyward’s 2018/19 season saw guest conducting engagements in Europe, Asia and the United States including concerts with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. Recent debuts include, among others, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Osaka Symphony Orchestra, Staatskapelle Halle, the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra and the Orchestre Symphonique de Saint-Étienne.
