Founded in 1975 the Australian Chamber Orchestra is renowned for its inspired programming and the rapturous response of audiences and critics to its work. Australian violinist Richard Tognetti was appointed as Artistic Director in 1989. Under his leadership, the ACO has toured extensively and performed in many of the world’s most prestigious concert halls.

In November and December 2011 the ACO embarked on a nine-date European tour at venues including Symphony Hall in Birmingham, London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw and Vienna’s Musikverein.

The orchestra returned to the UK in the summer of 2012 to perform at the Edinburgh International Festival on 31 August and at London’s Cadogan Hall on 1 September where Dawn Upshaw joined them.
