Sir Mark Elder
Sir Mark Elder has been the Music Director of the Hallé since September 2000, and regularly works with the world’s leading symphony orchestras and international opera houses.
During his tenure with the Hallé, the orchestra has been recognised in awards, including the 2011 South Bank Sky Award in Classical Music for their Mahler Symphony No.8 that was part of Manchester’s celebrations to mark the 150th anniversary of the composer’s birth.
Sir Mark Elder has also won two Gramophone Awards in 2010 for his recordings with the Hallé of Elgar’s Violin Concerto, and Wagner’s Götterdämmerung.
